![]() Initiative for Progressive Community Education In cooperation with IPE Fondation Initiative for Progressive Community Education is a joint venture of NGO Fractal and Foundation - International Progressive Education (IPE) designed with the goal to create quality educational opportunities to young people living in Kosovo, at the same time to facilitate and encourage youth activism, community service and interethnic cooperation in Kosovo. Our Vision: The IPCE University-Preparatory School IPE and Fractal propose to create a two-year university-preparatory high school for students in Kosovo, beginning operation in the 2011-2012 academic year. This school will combine rigorous academic courses with a strong emphasis on interethnic dialogue and community activism. The academic strand of the school will initially follow the rigorous curricula of the Advance Placement (AP) International Diploma. As the school develops it will additionally provide the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Students will be recruited from all over Kosovo, with an emphasis on multi-ethnicity. Individuals showing academic promise and personal integrity but who may not have the economic resources to attend private schools will benefit from the establishment of a scholarship fund to assist them with tuition payments. IPE and Fractal recognize the vast potential of economically disadvantaged groups in Kosovo and believe that one’s economic resources should not determine access to quality education. The IPCE Preparatory Phase Beginning in the academic year 2010-2011, the founders will implement the IPCE Preparatory Phase, which is designed to identify and feed students into the IPCE School. This one-year-long program will be composed of two strands: 1) Academic Extension - academic support for English high school teachers as well as high school students; and 2) Youth Activism strand that will involve these high school students in joint initiatives and projects. In the Academic Extension strand, IPE and Fractal will work directly with high schools from five different municipalities to provide academic services to students and teachers. Moreover, the Academic Extension program will provide professional support and resource acquisition assistance to local teachers. The Youth Activism strand will bring the youth from each municipality together to develop and complete various projects with the goal of promoting educational achievement and interethnic dialogue. |
