In cooperation with NGO Kula (Belgrade) Supported by the American Embassy in Belgrade The project’s aim was to affirm the concept of youth leadership among youngsters and promoting inter-ethnic youth cooperation of youth from Belgrade, Presevo and Bujanovacv, throughout creating the youth network that will know how to recognize the needs of local communities and their peers, to organize various activities and that way to influence on positive changes in their local surroundings. Since the youth communities have been left behind during the transitional years, empowerment of youth initiatives, a sense of commitment, service, and responsibility to their community have been identified as a priority issues. The main issue this project addressed was the lack of initiative and opportunities for civic activism among young people. Very often neither youth nor community problems were resolved because there was no one to undertake action. Corridor 18 gave 20 youngsters from Belgrade, Presevo and Bujanovac the chance to participate in project management training, team building exercises, networking events, and campaigns promoting leadership, activism and volunteerism. The aim of the project was to create sound cooperation and network connections between future youth leaders from Belgrade, Presevo and Bujanovac. Furthermore, it empowered them to gather local resources, address community concerns, get organized at the local and national level, and to raise funds for their own projects. Within Corridor 18 project small grant funds were secured for participants that enable them to implement gained knowledge in the real life. |
